Who we are
Norway Removals is the data controller for information you send through this website. Our contact address for data protection matters is hello@norwayremovals.co.uk.
What we collect
When you ask for a quote we collect your name, phone number, email address, the collection and delivery addresses, your preferred date if you give one, and whatever you write in the notes. If you email us, we hold the contents of that email.
The form is protected by Google reCAPTCHA. Google receives technical information about the request in order to tell a person from an automated submission, subject to Google’s own privacy policy and terms.
Inventories and customs documentation
An international move produces a detailed inventory of your possessions, with descriptions and values. That is a more revealing document than most people expect, and we treat it accordingly.
It is shared with the parties who need it to move the consignment: your customs agent or freight forwarder, the carrier, and a storage facility where one is involved. It is not shared with anybody else. You receive a copy as a matter of course, because the declaration is made in your name rather than ours.
Cross-border transfer
Moving goods to Norway necessarily involves your details leaving the UK. Norway is covered by the UK’s adequacy arrangements for data protection purposes, and the parties we share with are those directly involved in carrying out your move.
Where a customs authority requires information, that requirement comes from the law of the destination rather than from us, and it is satisfied through the declaration you make.
Records we have to keep
Customs and carriage documentation has to be retained for a period set by law rather than by us. Those records are kept for as long as required and then deleted. Enquiries that do not become work are deleted once they are plainly stale.
Why we hold it
To quote, to prepare documentation and to carry out the move. That is our legitimate interest in responding to an enquiry you started, and where you instruct us, performance of a contract and compliance with our legal obligations.
We do not use your details for marketing unless you ask us to, and we do not sell or pass them to lead-generation companies.
Your rights
You can ask us for a copy of what we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it — except where we are required to retain records for customs or carriage purposes. Email hello@norwayremovals.co.uk. If you are not satisfied with how we have handled a request you can complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk.
