Vehicles
A separate process entirely
Cars, motorcycles, caravans, boats and trailers. They are not part of a household removal in Norway and treating them as though they are is the fastest way to a difficult month.
What the border does with it
A vehicle has its own import procedure with its own declaration, its own registration process and its own charges. It is not covered by whatever applies to your furniture, and it is not something a removal firm can fold into a consignment.
Norway is well known for making vehicle import expensive, and the arithmetic frequently favours selling in the UK and buying locally. That is genuinely worth working out early rather than after the car is on a boat.
There are reliefs in some circumstances for a vehicle moving with a person taking up residence, and they come with conditions about ownership and use. Whether you qualify is a question for the Norwegian customs authority or an adviser, not for us.
The timing interacts with your own arrival. Several parts of the process depend on your residence status being established, which means a vehicle shipped ahead of you can end up waiting.

Tell you at the first conversation that the vehicle is a separate job, so you can start on it early
Coordinate with a vehicle shipping agent where you are using one, so the two do not collide
Move everything that is not the vehicle, without waiting on it
Decline to give you an opinion on whether importing it is worth it, because that is not our expertise
Most commonly got wrong
Leaving it until the removal is booked. The vehicle process runs on a different timetable and it does not compress.
