Things we cannot carry
Not in our vehicle, at any price
A short list, and it is not negotiable. Some of it is UK carriage law, some of it is Norwegian import law, and some of it is simply that a removal vehicle is not the right place for it.
What the border does with it
Hazardous goods are the bulk of the list: fuels, gas bottles, solvents, thinners, paint in quantity, aerosols beyond ordinary personal amounts, fireworks and anything else flammable, corrosive or under pressure. These cannot be in a removal load regardless of destination.
Weapons and ammunition are heavily controlled in Norway and are not a removals matter at all. If you own something in this category, it needs handling through the proper process, well ahead, and separately.
Cash, bullion, negotiable instruments and high-value portable items are excluded for a different reason: they are uninsurable in a removal load and they should travel with you.
Anything you are not lawfully entitled to export from the UK or import into Norway. That is a broader category than most people expect and it is worth asking about rather than assuming.
What we do
Go through this at the survey, in writing, so nothing is discovered on loading day
Tell you what the alternatives are — using it up, disposing of it properly, or a specialist
Refuse politely and firmly if something turns up on the day. There is no version of this we bend on
Dispose of hazardous items only where we are permitted to, with the correct paperwork
Most commonly got wrong
Assuming a small amount is fine. Quantity is not the test for most of this list, and a single gas canister can stop a whole consignment.

What is in the load, where in Norway it is going, and whether there is a vehicle. Those three decide almost everything, and the first two decide the paperwork.
